I cannot connect to it via the network router or directly connecting to the ethernet port of the desktop. WD Discovery just does not finds it. I have tried resetting the drive by pushing the button using the pin at the rear of the drive. Check your power supply, multiple drives in this unit are quite power hungry. If you listen to the unit and hear the drives stopping and starting then this will certainly be something to consider. Hope this helps. I found the following procedure worked for me.

Connect power cable and wait for it to cycle on then off automatically. If you buy one of these you may want to keep it in the cupboard. Ty Pendlebury. The Good Ability to manage remote files as if they're local. Huge 1TB capacity. Easy to install. Very noisy. Not as quick as we'd hoped. Thread starter dongilles Start date Jun 11, Hello all, I just bought a WD MY Book Live 2T and I mainly want to use it to steam video's to my Samsung Smart tv's but everytime I stop a video and want to return to it it starts from the beginning this is really anoying.

Is there a way to fix this? It's not really that difficult, use Putty to login to the My Book then follow their instructions copying and pasting the commands into Putty. On the remote computer, we went to the MioNet Web site and signed in with the new account.

We downloaded and installed Java after being prompted to and then were able to browse the share folders on the My Book World Edition using both Internet Explorer and FireFox. Unfortunately, browsing files and folder seemed to be the only thing that worked. We were not able to copy any files or folders from the NAS to the remote computer. The truth is as we tried to drag and drop or opened a file, the whole Web page froze and the mouse pointer turned into an hourglass, sometime indefinitely.

We couldn't even figure out if the drag-and-drop function was supported and in case it was, if it'd work with only single files or with a whole folder. All in all we found this remote access solution virtually useless. Just in case you wanted to leave the drive working in your bedroom while you slept at night. These impressive scores are comparable to those of some USB 2. Note that external hard drives are connected to a computer directly via USB, FireWire or eSATA ports and therefore have much better advantage in regard to throughput speed, as opposed to NAS servers that connect to a computer via the network.

During our testing, the My Book World Edition performed without any hiccups.
